The Women’s Equality Coalition of Linn County holds several events throughout the year to celebrate and uplift women and girls. We hope you can join us!

This year we will commemorate the 97th anniversary of the August 26, 1920 passage of the 19th amendment, which recognized women’s right to vote in America. Since 1976, we have observed Women’s Equality Day in Linn County on this date, and we welcome you to participate in our celebration.

The Women’s Equality Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 26 at the Kirkwood Community College – Linn County Regional Center located at 1770 Boyson Road in Hiawatha (please note that this is a new location). Hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6:15PM and the program will follow at 7:00, featuring the presentation of the 2017 Women of the Year awards. This will be a festive evening, and we hope you will join us, by attending, making a contribution or both. The Women’s Equality Day Celebration, which provides the opportunity to uplift local women and celebrate our heroines of the past, is only possible through the support of our community.

Want to attend? Purchase tickets in advance and save $2 each. Advanced tickets may be purchased below or in person at Piersall Law Firm (3716 1st Ave NE in Cedar Rapids). Tickets will be $12.00 at the door.
